OPTIONS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

There is no "one size fits all" diet. Every diet is a success for someone and no doubt you can find
truths in each school of thought. Every body is unique. Become informed by learning the principles on which each diet is built. (Also see "Fine Tuning Your Diet.")
Many of these diets have been recommended for the treatment of autistic spectrum disorders .

              GLUTEN-FREE DIET

A gluten-free diet should be the beginning of a wonderful, new chapter. While it's tempting to replace every food item with its processed gluten-free equivalent, it might be a good time to reevaluate what will most improve your quality of life. Perhaps a diet based on grain is not as healthy as we once thought. Try an emphasis on vegetables, fruits, and protein. Then evaluate how you feel.

There are many different approaches to finding optimum health, and the only way to know what works best for your body is to test them. Another option: Try eating only natural foods. Using whole foods makes it easier. For processed foods, read labels and avoid refined, artificial, or chemical ingredients.

              GLUTEN-FREE CASEIN-FREE DIET (GF/CF Diet)

The GF/CF Diet is free from grains that contain gluten, as well as dairy foods or products that contain the protein casein. It is one of the major successful interventions for the treatment of autistic spectrum disorders.
              SPECIFIC CARBOHYDRATE DIET (SCD)

The SCD was designed to correct the imbalance of bacteria and yeast that can cause serious digestive problems and disease. It has also been very successful in helping children with autism spectrum disorders. It is grain-free, sugar-free, and starch-free. The SCD recipe books are full of wonderful recipes. There is a lot of support for this diet. The proponents of SCD do not allow any deviation from their guidelines.

              BODY ECOLOGY DIET (BED)

Body Ecology seeks to establish and nourish the growth of beneficial microorganisms in the digestive tract which serves as your body's key line of defense against disease. There are many helpful ideas about preparing foods, including fermented foods. This diet has been very successful in dealing with autism.

              BLOOD TYPE DIET (BTD)

The Blood Type Diet was originally presented in the 1980s. Twenty years later, there is an impressive amount of follow-up as well as research using new technology and methods. It can be combined with other diets by focusing on the Beneficial foods and staying away from the Avoids and the grains that contain gluten.

              PALEO DIET

The paleolithic diet is a good resource for the other diets. It is gluten-free, dairy-free. It is also marketed as The Maker's Diet.
